Newsletter - Holiday Season

Happy Holidays!

A lot has happened since my last June newsletter; here are the highlights!

You Do You released "Live it Up," the lead single off our forthcoming album, Funky Dinos. The "new track is inspired by the Philly Soul of the 60s and 70s, with lush instrumentals and a smooth, dreamy sound" (, The Key). The band has been working on Funky Dinos since we released our last EP, Political Party. Stay tuned for more to come!

The John Byrne Band released A Shiver In the Sky. "Strings, horns and guitars escort Byrne’s vocals through a set of songs about living and pushing forward through negative times" (Play mpe). We invested many hours in this album and are proud it's out there! A Shiver In the Sky is available on CD and vinyl.

I recently accepted a Teaching Assistant position with Play On, Philly! Three days a week, I teach beginner trumpet at Freire Charter Middle School. I am excited to join the organization and to inspire a new crop of budding musicians.

Looking forward:

I have a jazz show at Chris' Jazz Cafe, Thursday, December 5, 2019! We are performing classic, obscure, and original jazz, as well as some holiday selections. I'll be joined by heavy hitters Gabe Preston (tenor & bari sax, flute), Brendan McGeehan (bass), and Charlie Heim (drums). You'll definitely hear some jazz reinterpreted. More information here.

Friday, December 20, 2019, York Street Hustle is back by popular demand and bringing their 8th Annual Holiday Spectacular to World Cafe Live! Catch the spirit of the season with a special mix of Motown Holiday Classics, 1960's soul hits and B-sides by the likes of Otis Redding, Darlene Love, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Gladys Knight, The Jackson 5, and many more! Our Holiday Spectucular is an ALL AGES show for kids from one to ninety-two, and seated tickets (including ADA seating) will be available! More information here.

Holiday Season is revving up. Take some time out to enjoy solid music with family and friends.
